54 N’Assembly workers on legislative studies

The National Institute for Legislative Studies on Monday said it was currently training 54 members of staff of the National Assembly on parliamentary administration, legislative studies and legislative drafting in the post-graduate programmes at the NILS-University of Benin.

A statement by the institute on Monday also quoted the Director General, Dr. Ladi
Hamalai, as calling for renewed emphasis on knowledge acquisition and capacity development for legislative support staff.
Hamalai was quoted as making the call while receiving members of the executive of the Parliamentary Staff Association of Nigeria, National Assembly Chapter, in her office.
She urged the executive to sensitize their members on the importance and relevance of training for self-improvement and skills development.
While urging them to put the nation first in service to their fatherland, she assured that despite the harsh global economic reality, NILS will continue to do its best in providing training for the legislature.
The Chairman of PASAN, Mr. Bature Musa, while commending the DG for the opportunity, also decried the low level of knowledge among some of its members.
